Pat and Lorie (Dad and Mom) have been married for 26 blessed years, and are the driving force behind our family's passion for God-honoring music. At this point their parenting reaches from the dolls-and-play stage all the way to full-time-job or soon-to-be grandparents stage. They are most definitely the foundation keeping this family running, but they also realize God's care for every moment of our lives and show that throughout little household moments. Even though it's a full time job, they work at keeping their children's hearts and are ready to counsel us from God's Word. We are so grateful for them.
Pat plays the radio (and the violin!). He works full-time as an IT Business Analyst. He also is the chairman of the Orion Chamber Music Society Board. He is a visionary who thinks ahead, but also a realist - he balances himself out :) In his "spare time", you can generally find him on the grounds (wood cutting/splitting, feeding our wood boiler), or spending time with his wife and kids. We like to call him the dramatic one as he adds spunk and fun to everyday life.
Lorie is a pianist, and much of our motivation for the music in our family today comes from her own training in her earlier years. As mother of 10, she has a full-time job with all the responsibilities of a stay-at-home mom (coordinating many busy schedules, planning meals, homeschooling those still in grade school, chauffeuring, shopping, working with finances, you get the idea!). She is always full of ideas and new opportunities, and we like to call her the eternal optimist.
Jonathan (25) is our resident violist in the Heritage String Quartet. His music opportunities are a little more limited as he works full time as a legislative director for Michigan State Representative Steve Johnson. He has enjoyed making connections in the political arena and learning from those who have walked the road he is on. Jon also ran our family remodel business for several years and still does a few jobs as opportunities present themselves. He is the ring leader of the family and often heads up projects and events.
Grace + Mark Cox got married on February 20th, 2016 and are looking forward to being parents in January 2017! Mark and Grace live in Athens, PA where Mark is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. Grace keeps busy with helping Mark with secretarial work and meeting the needs of the ladies of the church. Although piano was her first instrument and is still her first love, Grace also plays violin.
Melody (22) has a steady personality, often serving in the background. She is the resident cook in the family and has also pursued Family Herbalist courses. Melody, Anna and Lydia are musicians in the Oakland University Chamber Orchestra. Melody teaches several cello students (including Mary), piano students (Mary, Julia and Rebecca included) and vocal students both out of our home and through the music academy at our church. She is our main cellist and vocalist. More recently, Melody took over Grace's job of directing the annual Orion Chamber Music Society String Camp, and enjoys the friendships and good music provided through that opportunity. In Melody you will find a faithful friend and encourager.
Joseph (20) plays bass and violin. He works full time in the heating and air conditioning industry and is hoping to continue in that field. Joseph also enjoys working on any motorized vehicle, including cars (especially his own), snowmobiles and four-wheelers. His dry sense of humor keeps us all laughing! Sometimes when he can find a few moments he likes to work out. Joseph is a steady personality with a thoughtful spirit.
Anna (19) is our family harpist, running her own business (Clarity Harp), which offers custom harp music for weddings, banquets and other events! Anna is often our leading violinist, and studies with Kim Kennedy of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. By God's grace, she has won many music competitions on violin, providing financial scholarships and allowing her to solo with several symphony orchestras. Anna teaches violin and harp students through her home studio and our church's music academy. In Anna's free time she enjoys creative writing, Ultimate Frisbee, keeping in touch with friends and arranging hymns for harp. She is also our newest driver. Anna loves people and is eager to reach out to others in meaningful conversation.
Caleb (18) is stepping into manhood with ease and skill. He is friendly with a great sense of humor, and he likes to share his experiences with others. Caleb doubles as a violinist and violist in our family "orchestra." He enjoys bowhunting, four-wheelers, cars, sports, guns, engines, snowmobiles, and jet skis. He recently started working at Muffler Man and in his free time, he enjoys doing odd jobs and work around our grounds.
Lydia (17) is a Senior in high school and looking forward to finishing school soon! She enjoys photography and is the organizational genius around the house. Lydia spends hours and hours playing the piano, and is also another violinist in the family. She studies piano with Mary Siciliano and violin with Kim Kennedy. Lydia has taken over Grace's responsibility in coordinating the Elementary Fine Arts festival for the Michigan Association of Christian Schools (MACS). She also accompanies on piano for a miriad of different events and performances. When she finds an intermission to our busy family life, you can look for her using her camera or corresponding with friends. Along with her siblings, Lydia ministers in music through our church orchestra and the Orion Chamber Music Society. Her strengths include simplifying things and looking

Mary (13) is is the “blogmaster” on our family blog, where you can find pictures and updates on our daily lives. She is growing quickly - as evidenced by the fact that she is eating almost as much as the guys :) Mary is our second cellist, progressing rapidly with Melody as her teacher. She is also a pianist. Her favorite pastime is reading books - you can often find her reading one the second or third time because she's run out of books to read! She loves to crochet, especially complicated doilies (custom orders, anyone?). Mary is a fun-loving, humorous, and practical young lady.
Julia (12) loves to play piano and violin. She studies violin with Anna and piano with Melody and has started playing violin in our church orchestra! Julia, along with our other young ladies, often surprises us with little snacks "just because." Julia and Mary are both very creative with duct tape flower pens, crocheting and other crafts, and they have their own online store here. They would love your support! Julia is not afraid to tell you what she thinks; she is energetic, a go-getter and a good and thoughtful friend.
Rebecca (9), our baby, can often be found with her nose in a book, and it can be quite a task to get her attention! She is the latest member of our family to get glasses. Rebecca is progressing well on both piano and violin with Melody and Anna as her teachers. She enjoys playing music just for fun, and has even written some of her own! Rebecca is affectionately called "Buk" by a surprising number of people :) We love Buk's constant energy and love for others! She is such a joy to our family.
